Dashboard

Linode Dashboard

To manage an individual Linode server, click on one of them from the dashboard or click on Linodes in the side menu and then choose a server.

The easiest way to open up a terminal is to click on Launch Console in the top right menu.

Other than restarting the entire server or taking backups, you will be performing most server-related tasks through this terminal.

Backups

To see automatic backups and rollback to one of them, click on the Backups tab in the top menu on your server’s page.

Here you can click on the options button on the right side of the backup you want to restore, and click Restore to Existing Linode.

The server should shutdown and then rollback to the chosen backup. You will have to start the server manually after it is complete.

On top of automatic backups, you also have the option of manually backing up any server. This is useful if you’re doing anything to the server that may permanently damage the server or files on the server.

Changing root password

You do not need to rebuild the server to change the root password

To reset the root password, click on the Settings tab and then click Reset Root Password underneath it.

You should only have a single disk to pick from. Enter your new password and click Save. The server will shutdown, and you will be able to login using your new password after it boots up.
